Elements of WEB

WEB Leaders

Our school’s 9th graders will be trained in team building activities, cooperative
skill development, and discussion skills. Each of these WEB Leaders then
receives a list of 10 7th graders to telephone and personally invite to the orientation, to work with at orientation, and to stay in touch with throughout the
school year. They become leaders, motivators, role models, and teachers.

Orientation Day

WEB kicks off the school year with a fun filled and educational orientation day that welcomes our transitioning 7th graders into your school with a sense of safety and creates an anti-bullying environment. 7th graders are personally invited to attend the orientation by an 9th grade WEB Leader who spends the day with them and mentors them throughout their first year of junior high school.

Academic Follow Ups

These occur in a classroom setting; WEB Leaders visit 7th grade classes to teach lessons on topics such as cooperation, creativity, and positive attitudes.

Social Follow Ups

These are school sponsored group activities that bring 7th graders and WEB Leaders together for a variety of fun events such as group lunches, field days or movie afternoons.

Leader Initiated Follow Ups

These happen outside the classroom on a one-to-one basis and can be as simple as WEB Leaders saying “hi” to their 7th graders in the hallways or calling them at home to check in and see how they are doing. More involved Leader Initiated Follow Ups include WEB Leaders spending time tutoring their 7th graders or doing something special for their birthdays.

Leadership Skills

WEB Leaders step up and become a substantial presence at school acting as models of positive behavior which is ultimately a catalyst for climate change at your school. WEB is an excellent service learning and character development program; students get to serve their school community on multiple levels as well as reflect, consider and understand the impact of their own behavior
